Gin, I thanked everybody over at the Second Road and I didn't want to leave you out. I feel really blessed to have the support I find here and it's good to know I'm not alone. Yes, once the addictive behaviors stop, you're left with everything you were trying to cover up in the first place!

Oh Eli. I don't even know where to start. I am Charlie Brown in my relationship. How many times before I finally realize I can't trust "Lucy" when he says he's going to stop drinking. How many times will I fall for it when he tells me we will be a normal family again?

I don't know how to explain it. I am not in the exact same situation as you and your wife, but I can only imagine your difficulties and frustrations. They are shared on my end just in different ways. Many times when I am in need of affection or attention my husband's is elsewhere, i.e. the bottle.

Your post shows me that even when the addictive behavior ends there is still so much for both parties involved to sort through. In some ways, that is what scares me the most.

I am thinking of you. Hang in there.
